Grimes Month: My Favorite Songs From Grimes’s New Album

A couple of weeks ago, I went to yet another amazing Rhonda party and War Nymph-(AKA Grimes) played a very fun DJ set. It had been a while since I had listened to Grimes’s music, but listening to her DJ set was quite the next level. This was also my first time seeing and listening to her other music. I was super into it and definitely need to see her again. So yes, this happened and then a week later Grimes released her new album — you could imagine my excitement! Best of both worlds.

Listening to Grimes’s new album Miss Anthropocene reminded me of why I love her music so much. There were two songs I instantly vibed with and have absolutely had them on repeat for over a week now. These are: “My Name is Dark” and “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around”. Plus, the coolest thing about some of the songs in her new album is that they may have two versions of it; My Name is Dark is one of them. You’ll find this song has an Art Mix and an Algorithm Mix. I personally love both, but I think I love the Art Mix slightly more. It feels more real to me, as if the song were alive. It makes me feel as though I’m in another realm. Just listen to it, and you’ll know what I’m talking about 😉

Second song I love love love so much is You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around. This was THE song that reminded me of why I jam to her music; it’s one of her slow version songs with a lot of feeling and emotion. I also really like the lyrics, and I promise you that you’ll be singing it in your head for a few days after you hear it. At least, that was my experience.

Another slow and amazing song you can find in her new album is Delete Forever. The video was released a couple of weeks ago!

Overall, her new album is very cool. It has a lot of amazing songs that I enjoy but just wanted to share my top two here. Plus, Grimes just recently released two videos (long and short version) of another new song Idoru, which you can watch below. I hope you guys enjoy these songs as much as I do. Let me know what versions are your favorites!
