Going to a Sky Ferreira concert has been something I’ve been waiting to do for about three years. I finally got to see Sky this past Sunday for Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX. It couldn’t have been better. Sky Ferreira performed at The Belmont, which is one of my favorite venues in Austin. When she announced she would be playing there instead of the actual festival, I knew it would still be a good show.
The Belmont is a venue that gives a more personal vibe between both the audience and the performer. For us music lovers that’s a very cool feeling. I’m not going to lie, the sound could’ve been better, you could hardly hear her voice because of the sound system, but it’s still a day I will never forget.
Sky started her performance with “24 hours” one of her most recent songs from her album “Night Time, My Time”. She continued to play songs from the album, but she also didn’t forget to play some old school Sky songs. The crowd was very excited when she sang both “Lost in My Bedroom” and “Everything is Embarrassing”. “You’re Not the One” and “I Blame Myself” where also some of the audience’s favorites.
Her show was not only about good music, but also about her personal fashion style. Sky was wearing a vintage Mickey Mouse tee paired with straight black and white patterned pants. Sky’s style is one of my favorite things about her. It seems like she always wears what she feels comfortable in and the best part is that she knows how to pull it off. And of course, how to forget her classic ankle black boots and her hooded green bomber jacket.
Overall Sky Ferreira’s performance was unforgettable. Hopefully I’ll get to see her again sometime in the near future. But for now, i’ll have to wait for her new album.
